            Scott Scherquist began his collegiate musical studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. As a music major, Scott studied Piano and Piano Pedagogy with Dr. Donald Pirone. He later changed his concentration to Music Therapy and was awarded a scholarship from New York University School of Education, where he completed his major studies in Music Education and Piano Performance with Dr. Deidre O' Donohue.
             As a pianist, Scott is an experienced performer of various solo and small ensemble literature in the New York City area, with a special interest in French Impressionism and 20th Century works. Scott has also been a guest lecturer as well as performer, at the Rajapaht University of Ubon Rachathani in Thailand.
             In addition to piano performance, Scott Scherquist has been a private piano instructor and music educator since 1994, instructing students in solo literature and small ensemble works, enhancing their performance skills and enabling them to participate in local music competitions, recitals, and NYSSMA evaluations.
            In 2002-2004 Scott Scherquist served as a US Peace Corps volunteer in a rural northeastern province of Thailand. In cooperation with US Peace Corps and the Royal Thai Ministry of Education, Scott worked within the IECO (Integrated Education and Community Outreach) project. During his two year service, Scott Scherquist collaborated with Royal Thai Ministry of Education Supervisors in curriculum development projects, helped deploy Thailand's 'Education Reform 2000' in rural schools and trained teachers in Student Centered Teaching techniques and subject integration. Scott also networked with NGOs and local Government Agencies for projects concerning sustainable community development, school sanitation, resource building and helped gather financial assistance for students in need.
           Upon returning to America in 2004,
Scott Scherquist was concerned with quality of private music instruction and soon began
Music-Pianolessons.com.  The service was created out of the desire to improve the quality of music instruction provided in the home, and to give the consumer and learner a broader choice of qualified music instructors of various backgrounds and styles at reasonable rates.   Music-Pianolessons.com, Inc. specializes in creating music lessons for all instruments and curricula for the young and adult learner, as well as the beginner and experienced or professional musician. Lessons are specially designed to create a student-centered learning environment where students feel free to share their thoughts and reflections on what they are learning and what they wish to learn. At the same time creating a learning experience that is both fun and fully directed towards the wants and needs of the students.
